I’ve started writing children’s books to help me explain to my nieces and nephews how people are different. For me, my ‘different’ includes diabetes & celiac disease, but I’m also striving to help teach them that everyone is different in different ways. I’m hoping these books may also be helpful for others in having these conversations with the kids in their lives, too.

Cooper’s Crutches is a book about using crutches and mobility or assistive devices. Did you know some people use mobility or assistive devices for different periods of times? And assistive devices are more common than you might think – like eye glasses or contacts. This book is available for sale on Amazon here, and has both print and Kindle formats.

Chloe’s Cookies is a book about lactose intolerance and exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI), for which people need to take different types of enzymes when they eat food or have certain types of drinks. With lactose intolerance, people take lactase (an enzyme to help break down the sugars in milk) and with exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI/PEI), people take pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy (enzymes to help break down fat, protein, and carbohydrates). This book is available for sale on Amazon here, and has both print and Kindle formats.
